Abstract art is deceptive. It can look easy. One often hears the comment, “My child could have done that.” Yes, possibly, but with intention? Or just dumb luck?
Like making music, painting an abstract is about arranging and hitting the right notes. A wrong one can ruin the entire composition. Colour, mark-making, the direction of brush strokes, texture, surface – all have a place in creating a successful painting.
